Helpful answers about Collector Grade Vinyl
What is Collector Grade Vinyl?
Display-first figures made for the late-teen to adult collector market. These are products meant to be displayed in the window or on their own. Unlike Funko Pops!, collector grade vinyl has much more detail and, of course, a higher price point — geared toward fans of a particular series rather than someone creating a “wall o’ Pops” effect. Best in brand are Q-Fig and Mini Co., priced between $20–$50. This category is really for those aged 14 and up, though some recommended ages do vary. If you want a premium collector grade item, this is where you find it.
What is a Q-Fig?
A mini-diorama figure by Quantum Mechanix. Q-Figs capture the action and emotion of some of the most popular pop culture figures in scenes that are directly on point. Produced at 1:6 scale, they come in a window display box. These are collector favorites because they have far more quality than a Pop! figure while staying reasonably priced, ranging from $20–$50 depending on the figure. Designed with collectors aged 14 and up in mind, they are usually displayed “in box” — though they look just as good out of the packaging.
What is a Mini Co. figure?
A highly detailed PVC line by Iron Studios. Designed for collectible display with really fantastic detailing, Mini Co. is one of the top 3 realistic collectible brands for Marvel, Lord of the Rings, the DC Multiverse, and other areas that appeal to collectors. Figures run 4 to 8 inches tall depending on the character and free-stand on an embossed base depicting the production series. A typical Mini Co. figure runs $30–$50, designed for collectors aged 14 and up.
