Star Wars The Black Series: Collector & Gift FAQ
What is the Black Series packaging like?
Packaging for Star Wars The Black Series has undergone a number of changes since 2013. The best reboot, in our opinion at Keenga Toys, happened in 2020: improved packaging makes this a more "collector worthy" action figure, with enhanced box art, a better window display, and a slightly narrower package for stacking. Recently Hasbro has added more "action" accessories—such as lightsaber fans that are wider than the traditional display, and blasters featuring enhanced details. There are now, in general, more accessories per figure.
What scale is The Black Series done at?
Almost all of Star Wars The Black Series is done at 6-inch scale. There is a Walmart "exclusive" line, also available through fan channel distribution, done at 3.75-inch scale.
I'm a parent or grandparent buying these for my child or grandchild — are these figures right for me?
Yes—the recommended age is 4 and up. While these figures are heavily collected by adult fans, they are primarily designed for children. The articulation (workable joints in an action figure) on this line is exceptional: over 20 points on each figure, with accessories appropriate to the character as seen on screen. Which figures they'll want depends on how they consume Star Wars.
They like the new movies: the popular characters here are Rey, Finn, Poe Dameron, Kylo Ren, and the older version of Princess Leia.
They watch Disney+ animation: we strongly recommend the Star Wars Rebels characters, who are written to appeal to a younger audience. Ezra Bridger is the young Padawan (Jedi in training) hero of the series; kids are also drawn to Hera, Zeb, and Chopper, and slightly older kids gravitate to Sabine Wren and Ahsoka Tano. If you want to join the fun yourself, we recommend Kanan Jarrus—who has all the fun of not only training a young Jedi, but standing in as a stepfather to the orphaned, sometimes very stubborn teenager Ezra. There's a great scene where young Ezra watches Kanan use the Jedi mind trick on a stormtrooper and wishes out loud, "I wish that would work for me"—to which Kanan replies, "Sometimes, I wish that worked on you." If you have raised a teenager, you can probably relate.
They like The Mandalorian: The Child (aka Baby Yoda) appeals to everyone across a broad age spectrum—you can't go wrong there. The title character has universal appeal as well. Cara Dune is a great female co-lead with appeal as a former Rebel drop trooper (sort of Band of Brothers meets the Star Wars universe), originally from Alderaan. Moff Gideon is the central villain of the series, and the droid IG-11 is an instant cult hit and highly sought after.
I've been buying Black Series from you on eBay for years — why should I buy here?
If you buy from Keenga Toys directly, we provide you the best condition available on the day it comes in. The boxes are slightly better, and our multi-tier discount is likely better as well.
