Star Wars The Vintage Collection: Cardback Collector FAQ
Is Star Wars The Vintage Collection Hasbro or Kenner brand?
Technically it's both. Kenner was founded in 1946 by Albert, Phillip and Joseph L. Steiner; eventually they did the first Star Wars action figures that every child of the 70's and 80's remembers. As the brothers were retiring Kenner was sold to Tonka Toys, and Tonka was later sold to Hasbro in 1987. So long story short, Hasbro owns the name and style of Kenner toys. Hasbro retired the Kenner line in 2000; however, popular fan acclaim brought the style back to life with Star Wars: The Vintage Collection.
What is the Star Wars Retro Collection?
Toun the Toy Lady first saw these previewed at the 2019 NY Toy Fair. The Retro Collection is a nostalgia-driven line that digs deep into the history of Kenner action figures from the 1970s and 80s—designed to look, feel, and even smell like the classic Kenner Star Wars figures. Where The Vintage Collection offers slightly more modern articulation and accessories, Retro figures keep the classic five points of articulation (5POA: head, shoulders, and hips), with intentionally minimalist, chunky sculpts, simple paint apps, and soft vinyl or basic plastic accessories that mimic vintage production methods—all in packaging that's brand new but appears charmingly distressed. Both lines have a valued place in a collector's display.
How does Keenga Toys ship The Vintage Collection? I'm a collector, and condition is important to me.
Condition is important to us too at Keenga Toys. If you are buying 1 or 2 figures, we ship these in a 10.13×7.5×4.5 Coastwide box that has passed independent crush-strength testing. Those buying 3 or more figures will receive theirs in either a Coastwide or ULINE box of appropriate size and strength to maximize clean card back edges and intact blisters. Both boxes are great—the ULINE box is the one reviewed by "That Junkman" on his YouTube channel and dubbed the "Ace Ventura" box. Inside, we use a variety of craft paper and bubble wrapping to make sure it travels from our store to your door with the care it deserves.
How fast will I receive my Vintage Collection figure?
All orders ship the next business day, so probably faster than you expect. For most customers, USPS Ground Advantage (our free shipping option on orders over $45) is more than sufficient: on average we see 2–4 days transit time to most of the continental US. Priority Mail runs 1 to 3 days. If you are in Puerto Rico, Guam, Hawaii, Alaska, or a really remote domestic location, add a day to the expectation—but we pride ourselves on shipping both well and quickly.
Why buy The Vintage Collection at Keenga Toys rather than Walmart, Amazon, or Hasbro Pulse?
If both condition and cost matter to you, Keenga Toys is the best option. Amazon and Walmart are great stores, but they simply cannot match a small business in preserving the card back, edges, and blister of a Vintage Collection figure—it's not economical for a big-box store to train warehouse staff that a carded figure can't be packed the same way as a candle or a sack of potatoes. Keenga Toys stocks a box purchased specifically for shipping The Vintage Collection, plus a variety of bubble wrap, air bags, and heavy-duty craft paper to ship your order.
